A Melrose Park mum is looking forward to splurging on a ‘kid-free’ dinner after scoring one of the top prize of $10,000 on a $1 Happy Camper Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
The winning $1 ticket was purchased at Castle Plaza Lotteries Kiosk, Southern Kiosk, Castle Plaza, 992 South Road, Edwardstown.
Speaking with a SA Lotteries official this morning to claim her prize, the young mother shared buying Instant Scratch-Its was a fortnightly routine she shared with her husband.
“Every couple of weeks me and my husband grab five $1 Instant Scratch-Its tickets when we are out and then we scratch them at home,” she explained.
“When I scratched this one, I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. I checked it plenty of times.
“I’ve never won anything like this before. Usually I win $2 or a free ticket and I just use those to buy the next lot of scratchies next time.”
When asked how she planned to enjoy her instant windfall, she revealed she would put it to good use.
“We are going to be pretty boring with it and use it to pay off some bills,” she laughed.
“It will be good to pay a chunk off the credit card and a chunk off the home loan.
“We will probably save a little bit of it for ourselves and organise to go out for a nice dinner to celebrate – without the kids!”
Castle Plaza Lotteries Kiosk owner Roy Young said he was thrilled a regular customer had scored a top prize.
“It’s been a while since we’ve sold a top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its so we are very excited!” he exclaimed.
“We’ll be sharing the news with our customers this week and telling them all we’ve sold a big one.
“Congratulations to our winner! We wish them all the best with their prize!”
Between 1 July 2018 and 30 June 2019, there were 118 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $12.14 million in top prizes.
