A generous Flinders Park retiree is first in line for ‘best friend of the year’ after declaring he would use most of his $100,000 win in a recent Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw to help his mates.
The Adelaide resident scored the 1st Prize in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 10851, drawn Friday 17 May 2024.
It was the gift that kept on giving for the South Australian man because as well as winning the 1st Prize, he won a consolation prize of $1,000, bolstering his total windfall to $101,000.
The winning man missed a couple of missed calls from lottery officials late last week but shortly returned the call to discover the revelation he was $101,000 richer.
“That’s such good news!” he cheered.
“Oh wow! Thank you so much. It’s definitely the most I’ve ever won.
“I wasn’t having the greatest week with my health, but this has really made my day.
“I’ve been lying in bed recovering and I decided to check my Lucky Lotteries ticket. I couldn’t believe it.
“I had a couple of mates; they need some help with things that have broken down. One of them needs a new battery for his lawn mower.
“They’re great friends and they look after me too.
“Thank you so much. I’m a happy man!”
His winning entry of two random numbers was purchased via The Lott app – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $19 million for draw 1672, while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize is now $1.54 million for draw 10852.
In 2023, 117 Lucky Lotteries 1st Prize and Jackpot winning entries across Australia won more than $20.6 million.
Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot and Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot are raffle-style games, which means there is a set number of tickets in each draw. As each ticket number is unique there is no sharing of prizes.
Each game has two draws – one that determines the winning numbers and one that determines the jackpot number. If the jackpot number matches one of the winning numbers, then the Jackpot Prize is won. If the jackpot number does not match one of the winning numbers, the Jackpot Prize will climb for the next draw.
Tickets can be purchased at any licenced lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via The Lott mobile app.
