A Cannonvale man who pocketed a $2 million Gold Lotto win is running through some bold ideas for his prize, including the possibility of building an emu racing track on his property.

The Airlie Beach resident held one of the five division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4607, drawn Saturday 13 September 2025 and takes home a neat $2 million.

So far in 2025, there have been eight major lottery wins in the Mackay and Whitsundays region, collectively taken home more than $21.15 million in prize money.

If the winner had been a member of The Lott Members Club and registered his ticket to a player card or online account, he would have been alerted to his good fortune straight after the draw.

“Thanks mate! I can’t believe it!” he laughed when an official from The Lott confirmed his windfall.

“I’ve been playing Saturday Gold Lotto for two years. I never expected for this to happen to me.

“I’m still decompressing from the win. I found out Saturday morning and have been sitting on it ever since.”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his prize, the winning man shared he’s contemplating some of his wildest fantasies.

“I could use the money to build an emu racing track on my property between Prosperine and Airlie Beach,” he joked.

“I've loved emus since childhood and have always wondered if I could do such a thing. Now with $2 million – who knows!

“Some mates and I are going to go to the RSL to celebrate!”

His winning entry was purchased at News Whitsunday, Shop T3, Whitsunday Plaza (Centro), 8 Galbraith Park Drive, Cannonvale.

News Whitsunday owner Rich Bates said him and his team were ecstatic to have sold a division one winning entry to a local customer.

"We're thrilled, as are our customers. We've been curious about the winner for a week, and we're glad they finally came forward," he said.

“This will be our third division one winning entry that we’ve sold in the last three years! We’re known by the locals as a lucky store.

“The last time we sold a division one winning entry before this win was in May 2024, which was also a Saturday Gold Lotto winner!

Congratulations to this winner and we wish them all the very best in the next chapter of their lives.”

The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4607 on 13 September 2025 were 31, 13, 18, 15, 2, and 40, while the supplementary numbers were 36 and 26.

Across Australia, there were five division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4607 – two in Queensland, and one each in New South Wales, Tasmania and Western Australia.

The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 312 so far in 2025, including 73 won by Golden Casket customers.

In FY25, Saturday Gold Lotto created 165 millionaires across Australia.

During this time, there were 341 division one winning Saturday Gold Lotto entries across Australia that collectively won more than $420 million.
