The numbers have been crunched and South Australia’s 2018 Lottery Hotspots have been revealed, with Adelaide’s CBD claiming the crown for the suburb that sold the most division one winning entries.
During the past 12 months, between 1 December 2017 and 30 November 2018, South Australian lottery players enjoyed 37 division one prizes and pocketed $63,398,874.19 in division one prize money.
The biggest division one prize to land in South Australia was a $15 million Oz Lotto win in June, claimed by a Limestone Coast family who had been playing the same special numbers for more than a decade.
The latest Lottery Hotspots data shows the South Australian postcode that sold the most division one winning entries during the past 12 months was 6000 for Adelaide CBD, which sold four division one winning entries totalling $3,807,167.39.
Hot on the heels of Adelaide CBD was the Adelaide Hills suburb of Mount Barker (5251), which sold three division one winning entries totalling $2,054,084.11.Remarkably, Mount Barker Central Newsagency sold both division one winning entries in this postcode.
This year, Western Adelaide was the region that enjoyed the most division one wins. It had six division one winning entries totalling more than $17 million.
North Adelaide sold five division one winning entries totalling over $6.8 million in prize money.
SA Lotteries spokesperson Bronwyn Spencer said 19 newly-minted millionaires were created across South Australia during the past 12 months.
“Of the 37 division one winners in South Australia, just under half of them are seeing out the year as millionaires after having their lives changed by their lottery windfall!” she exclaimed.
“From overseas holidays and travels around Australia, to new homes and new cars, each ecstatic winner is now enjoying their win with their nearest and dearest.”
Ms Spencer added winners’ division one dreams were as vast and varied as the locations in which the wins were won.

“We’ve seen division one wins land far and wide across South Australia in both metropolitan and regional areas,” she explained.
“In each case, every winner had their own dream of how they would use their windfall to enrich their lives. My favourite would have to be the private syndicate of 20 hard-working nurses who won $1 million in Wednesday X Lotto in January and enjoyed a huge celebration.
