The hunt is on for the winner of Thursday night’s entire $30 million Powerball jackpot prize, with Tatts officials this morning revealing the unregistered division one winning entry was purchased at Sorell Hub Lotto in Sorell.

The mystery winner holds the only division one winning entry in Powerball draw 1166 drawn Thursday 20 September 2018 and could be completely unaware they are $30 million richer.

The Sorell entry was not registered to a Tatts card so Tatts officials have no way of contacting the winner to confirm the life-changing news and have to wait for them to come forward to claim their prize.

The winning entry was sold at Sorell Hub Lotto, Kiosk 1, Sorell Plaza, 12 Cole Street, Sorell.

Owner of Sorell Hub Lotto Dean Silver said he was thrilled to discover his outlet had sold Tasmania’s largest ever division one winning entry.

“That is just magnificent! Great news!” he exclaimed.

“I’ve been here five and a half years and I’ve sold every other division but division one so it’s really good we’ve finally sold one!

“It’s even better it is the biggest division one win sold in Tasmania ever!

“Won’t it just be great when they check their ticket and find out they’ve won?!”

Tatts spokesperson Bronnie Spencer is urging all residents or visitors from Sorell and the surrounding region who purchased an entry in Thursday night’s Powerball draw to check their entry.

“The mystery winner could be walking around with the winning entry in their back pocket and not even know it!” she exclaimed.

“In previous cases of unregistered winners coming forward to claim their prize, they have revealed their tickets were found in the most likely of places.

“Once winner confessed to having the winning ticket in his back pocket the whole time while another revealed it had been stuck on the fridge for days before someone checked it.

“Most recently, one winner came forward after a family member nagged her to check her tickets so make sure you encourage all friends and family to check theirs too!

“Players can check their tickets online at thelott.com, via our app or in store to see if they hold the winning numbers.

“If you discover you are the winner we are searching for make sure you hold on tight to that ticket and phone 131 868 as soon as possible so that we can start the prize claim process!”

Ms Spencer also reminded players of the importance of registering their tickets to a Tatts card.

“We encourage all of our players to register their entries to a players card,” she said.

“Not only does it ensure we can call you with the life-changing news but it also means the prize is secure and should anything happen to that all important ticket, the prize can still be paid.”
