The news of a staggering $4.8 million Set for Life win has kept a Sailors Falls man on the edge of his seat at work, with the winning Victorian admitting he couldn’t wait to clock off yesterday and rush home to confirm the win with lottery officials.
The central Victoria player held the only division one winning entry nationally in Set for Life draw 2573, drawn Monday 22 August 2022.
He takes home the division one prize of $4.8 million, paid in instalments of $20,000 a month for the next 20 years.
Yesterday evening, an official from The Lott spoke to the regional Victoria resident, who couldn’t wait to be told he was now officially Set for Life.
“Happy days! I’ve been thinking about it all day at work,” he confessed.
“I’d already started work for the day when you called this morning, so I couldn’t speak until now!
“I was going a bit crazy thinking about it!
“This has changed so much for me. I feel good!
“I’m going to call my in-laws tonight and let them know!
“Last week, I spoke to someone about retiring in the next five years, but this has just brought that forward by many years!
“I can’t believe I’ll receive $20,000 a month for the next 20 years?!
“I’ll probably buy a house, retire earlier than expected, and travel around Australia.
“I enjoy driving in the outback, so I’ll explore Australia on the road.
“I can look forward to retirement and do all the things I’ve wanted to do.
“Thank you for the best phone call!”
His winning 4-game QuickPick was purchased at Ballan Lotto, 133 Inglis Street, Ballan.
Ballan Lotto owner Ian Ireland said he was excited knowing a local had taken home a life-changing win with a ticket purchased from his outlet.
“The entire team is very happy for the winner, and we can’t believe the winning news. This is the first division one winning ticket we’ve sold in Set for Life, and we’re over the moon,” he shared.
“We started our outlet in late 1991 and sold our first division one winning entry exactly a year later. Then luck struck again in October 2000. This is our third division one win in 31 years!
“It’s extremely exciting for our small rural community of Ballan, and we can just imagine it’s the start of a winning streak! We can’t wait to make another customer's dreams come true.

The winning numbers in Set for Life draw 2573 on Monday 22 August 2022 were 6, 25, 19, 13, 41, 18, 37, while the supplementary numbers were 20 and 33.
Across Australia, there was one division one winning entry in Set for Life draw 2573 – the entry from Victoria.
This marks the 105th Set for Life division one winner nationally since the game began and the 14th Set for Life division one winner so far this calendar year.
