A hardworking couple from Bellmere was left stunned today when they discovered what they thought was a $750 winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket, was actually a $100,000 top prize.
The overjoyed Moreton Bay couple bought their winning $5 Crosswords Instant Scratch-Its ticket at Nextra Morayfield Plaza News, Shop 38, Morayfield Shopping Centre, Morayfield.
“F***k off?,” the man screamed in shock when the true extent of his instant win was revealed.
“Oh my god!
“Are you serious?! Are you pulling my leg?”
“I bought five Instant Scratch-Its and this was the third ticket I scratched. I thought I won $750!,” the happy woman added.
“I ended up putting it in my wallet in the car and then when I went to get it out, I couldn’t find it! I thought I lost it!
“I started crying! So then when my husband came home, we both started looking through the car. We were determined to find that ticket!
“Turns out, it had fallen right under the back seat of the car!
“My husband checked the ticket again and he said we actually had nine letters, so we thought we won $10,000! We were ecstatic!
“But then when we went in to Golden Casket, they said we won $100,000!
“I was so shocked. It went from $750 to $10,000 to $100,000!
“My husband started crying and I was just speechless! I had to pick my jaw up off the ground.
“We are so excited. This feels very surreal.”
When asked how they planned to spend their $100,000 prize, the Bellmere couple said it would help them spoil their family.
“We will pay some bills, help our kids and spoil the grandkids,” the winning woman said.
“We will definitely do something fun, I am just not sure what yet!
“We will need time to think about it. We don’t want to blow it.
“We will go out to dinner with the whole family this weekend to celebrate, pop a bottle of champagne.”
Nextra Morayfield Plaza News owner Ken Allan said he was thrilled to have sold another winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
“We are so happy to sell another big winner,” he said happily.
“We consistently sell big prizes to our customers, which is fantastic.
“It’s a delight to have made another customer hundreds of thousands of dollars richer!
“Hopefully we sell some more massive winning tickets to our customers as soon as possible.”
Last financial year, there were 158 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $11.28 million.
