One Canberra shopper today discovered they became a millionaire a week ago after they finally checked their winning Monday & Wednesday Lotto ticket.
The ACT entry was the only division one winning entry nationally in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 3880, drawn Monday 24 June 2019. It pocketed the guaranteed division one prize of $1 million.
As the entry was not registered to a Players Club card, NSW Lotteries officials had no way of contacting the territory’s newest millionaire to break the life-changing news.
Seven days after the winning numbers were drawn, this morning the winner checked their ticket and claimed their prize. Who they are and how they will use their prize will forever remain a mystery as they have chosen to remain completely anonymous.
The million-dollar winning Monday & Wednesday Lotto ticket was purchased at Butts N Brew, Shop 16, Casey Market Town, 15 Kingsland Parade, Casey.
Butts N Brew owner Dimitri Karagiannidis said he was still celebrating selling a division one winning entry and was thrilled his customer had finally discovered their life-changing news.
“When I first saw the notification that we’d sold a division one winning ticket I didn’t believe it. But it’s real and I’m absolutely over the moon,” he said.
“We opened just over three years ago and this is our first division one! We hope it’s the first of many. We’ve been celebrating in store with a bottle of champagne and hopefully the luck will strike again soon.
“Our customers have been very excited to hear we’ve had a winner.
“It’s great the winner has finally discovered they’re a millionaire. A big congratulations to them. I hope this money makes life a lot easier for them and they treat themselves to a holiday somewhere warm.”
In 2018, Monday & Wednesday Lotto and Saturday Lotto created 194 millionaires across Australia.
The winning numbers in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 3880 on Monday 24 June 2019 were 9, 36, 40, 22, 23 and 32 while the supplementary numbers were 33 and 37.
