An Annerley man who has been battling an ongoing illness is now planning an overseas getaway of a lifetime after discovering he’d scored more than $100,000 in yesterday’s Lucky Lotteries draw.

The Brisbane resident held the 1st Prize winning entry in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 10978, drawn Wednesday 14 May 2025. He also pocketed a consolation prize, boosting his total windfall to $102,000.

When an official from The Lott broke the thrilling news, the emotional winner confessed he needed a moment to breathe and process the life-enhancing news.

“This is just great news!” he gasped.

“I’ve been very sick, so this is just a breath of fresh air. Finally, something positive has happened!

“Sorry, I just need a second to breathe.

“I can’t believe this is happening to me right now.

“I’ve won division two a couple of times before, but this is just something else.

“I’ve got my wife listening to your call to make sure I’m not going crazy.”

When asked how he might enjoy his newfound treasure, the stunned winner shared he could finally start dreaming about an overseas holiday.

“Oh look, because I’ve been sick for so long, we haven’t been overseas in a long time,” he said.

“We can now look at booking a nice overseas holiday. It’ll be extra special now.”

His winning entry of ten consecutive numbers was purchased at Junction News & Casket Agency, Shop 2, 500 Ipswich Road, Annerley.

Junction News & Casket Agency owner Rachel Do shared she was thrilled to hear her outlet had sold a major lottery prize worth more than $100,000.

“I was so thrilled when I first got the notification that we had sold the winning entry. It took me around five minutes worth of reading the email over and over again to make sure it was real,” she explained.

“It has been a while since we’ve had a big win in the local community. I believe this will cheer everyone up and make people start believing in good things again.

“This is our very first major lottery win since taking over the outlet two years ago. It’s so exciting.

“We wish our 1st prize winner all the very best and we hope this prize will be an unforgettable experience for them and their beloved family.”

The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $6.04 million for draw 1703, while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize is now $18.05 million for draw 10979.

In 2024, 147 Lucky Lotteries 1st Prize and Jackpot winning entries across Australia won more than $52.2 million.

Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot and Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot are raffle-style games, which means there is a set number of tickets in each draw. As each ticket number is unique there is no sharing of prizes.

Each game has two draws – one that determines the winning numbers and one that determines the jackpot number. If the jackpot number matches one of the winning numbers, then the Jackpot Prize is won. If the jackpot number does not match one of the winning numbers, the Jackpot Prize will climb for the next draw.

Tickets can be purchased at any licenced lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via The Lott mobile app.
