One Far North Queensland shopper has bagged themselves one of the top prizes of $1,000 a week for five years on a $5 Live the Life Instant Scratch-Its ticket they bought in Atherton.
The winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Summers Newsagency, 25B Main Street, Atherton.
Collecting their top prize from Golden Casket this morning, the winner couldn’t contain their excitement from scratching a top prize of $1,000 a week for five years.
With their bank balance set to receive a weekly boost, the winner has already begun contemplating how they will use their instant prize. But exactly what they will do will forever remain a mystery as the winner has chosen to remain completely anonymous.
From overseas holidays to new cars, Golden Casket spokesperson Matt Hart said top prize Instant Scratch-Its winners often used their prizes in lots of surprising ways.
“Many winners tell us they simply don’t believe their eyes when they scratch a top prize, and often call upon their family and friends to check and double check their ticket,” he said.
“But once the prize hits their bank account, they know it’s real and use it to enjoy a holiday, buy a new car, or even pay off part of the mortgage. One winner even told us he bought several Dyson vacuum cleaners – one for each of his friends.”
Summers Newsagency owner Helen Williams said she was thrilled to discover her outlet had sold another top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
“How good’s that?! We are good, we are really good,” she laughed.
“We’ve done it again! And it’s a Live the Life again! We sold a Live the Life prize in 2015 and now another one.
“We’re ready to do it again. Maybe we can make it three in three years?
“In the meantime, we wish our winner all the very best with their prize.”
Last financial year, there were 158 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $11.28 million.
