Aussies looking to infuse some excitement into the final months of 2023 are setting their sights on Thursday night’s $60 million Powerball draw.

This week’s Powerball draw 1429 on Thursday 5 October 2023, offers the second biggest jackpot offered by any Australian lottery game so far this year. It’s also the biggest Powerball jackpot in over a month.

The jackpot has surged to $60 million as there haven’t been any Powerball division one winners during the past four draws.

Up to one-in-six Australian adults are expected to have an entry into the draw.

So far this year, 12 Powerball division one winning entries across Australia have collectively taken home more than $394 million in prize money.

The Lott spokesperson Anna Hobdell said if someone scored division one in Thursday night’s Powerball draw, they would expect to receive their multi-million-dollar prize before the end of October.

“There would be no better way to end the final months of 2023 with a division one win in the bank on October 19 - it would undoubtedly set the family up for a magical Christmas season!” she said.

“Our Powerball winners have described their division one win as a beacon of hope and positivity, which has drawn them closer to their life-long dreams and long-held aspirations, whether they’re big or small.

“Australia’s biggest lottery winner of 2023 to date is a Bankstown dad who took home a staggering $100 million in a June Powerball draw.

“Surprisingly, the Western Sydney man told us he planned to continue with his usual routine of waking up and going to work but looked forward to treating his family to a brand-new home.”

Ms Hobdell said players should also register their entries to a player card or online account so they can be contacted immediately after the draw should they score the division one prize on Thursday.

“We’ll be ready to make any life-changing phone calls to registered division one winners on Thursday night - so if you do see your phone light up, answer it immediately!” she said.

“In January 2019, we revealed a Sydney mum’s $107 million windfall in Powerball straight after the draw as she registered her ticket to a player card or online account.

“My best advice for anyone wanting the chance to win Powerball this week is to ensure you have an entry in your hands before the draw’s close at 7.30pm AEST on Thursday night.

“As this is the biggest offer of any Australian lottery game at the moment, we’re expecting it to be busy in-store and online leading up to Thursday night’s draw.

“Make sure you register your entry to a player card or online account so we can call you with the life-changing news straight after the draw should you win division one!”
