With Oz Lotto hitting a seven-year high of $80 million tomorrow night, Aussies are imagining their lives with an incredible multi-million-dollar windfall.
For the past eight weeks, the winning combination of seven numbers has eluded millions of Oz Lotto players, causing the jackpot to jump to its third-highest offer in the game’s 25-year history.
If one person takes home the entire division one prize tomorrow night, they’ll make their way into Australian lottery history books as the country’s second biggest individual lottery winner.
With up to one-in-four adult Australians expected to have an entry in tomorrow night’s draw, the Lott spokesperson Lauren Cooney said it would be bustling in lottery outlets and online leading up to the draw’s close tomorrow evening.
“In March, when Oz Lotto hit $70 million, we saw sales in store and online peak at 4.11pm on the day of the draw when almost 3,000 tickets were sold in 60 seconds. Now that the jackpot is at $80 million, who knows how busy it will get,” she said.
“Our advice is to get in early to avoid the rush! Aussies know they need to be in it for the chance to win it, and will be wanting to have their hands on an entry before the draw closes tomorrow evening.
“I’ll be standing by tomorrow night after the draw eager to break the life-changing news to any division one winners. So make sure you register your entry so I can dial your phone number and deliver some life-changing news if you win.”
While no entry has managed to score division one during the past eight draws, 73 players across the country have been just one number off pocketing the top prize and instead landed a division two windfall.
Since Oz Lotto started jackpotting at the end of April, Ms Cooney said these 73 division two winners had pocketed almost $2.5 million in prize money, but not the big one.
“We’re not sure if these 73 Aussies realise how tantalisingly close they’ve been to scoring division one or if they’d even want to know that they were just one number away from being a multi-millionaire,” she said.
“Each week we’ve seen the number of division two winners growing. Will it happen again this week or will we see one or more players hold the life-changing combination of numbers drawn out of the barrel? We can’t wait to find out.
“Tomorrow night we could be crowning the nation’s second biggest individual lottery winner if just one person takes the lot. The record for the biggest individual lottery winner was set in January this year when a Sydney mum won $107 million in Powerball!”
Oz Lotto draw 1323 closes at 7:30pm AEST on Tuesday 25 June 2019.
Tickets can be purchased at any licensed lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via the Lott mobile app.
