Aussies have just over a week left to reveal the remaining million-dollar top prize on the $20 Instant Scratch-Its Instant Millionaire’s Club ticket.
The Instant Millionaire’s Club ticket offers two top prizes of $1 million, but a player from the ACT has already claimed one of the these.
The remaining prize has yet to be claimed, meaning it could still be on a ticket in lottery outlets waiting to be scratched or may already be in the hands of an unsuspecting winner.
With lottery outlets only having a small number of tickets in this particular game available to purchase until next Thursday, Instant Scratch-Its spokesperson Matt Hart said he was standing by ready to crown Instant Scratch-Its’ next millionaire.
“It sounds like something straight from the pages of Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory – one Instant Scratch-Its ticket is out there with a million-dollar prize yet to be claimed,” he said.
“As no one has stepped forward with the remaining million-dollar ticket, this means it could still be sitting in a lottery outlet somewhere across the country.
“Another theory is that someone has bought this ticket or received it as a gift, but they haven’t scratched or checked it yet.
“Perhaps someone does know they’ve scratched a million dollars but haven’t stepped forward to claim it, though Instant Scratch-Its winners are usually pretty prompt in claiming their prizes because they know their winning tickets are like cash.
“Imagine how your plans for the rest of the week, year and rest of your life might change if you became an instant millionaire”
Instant Scratch-Its’ $20 Instant Millionaire’s Club offered more than $15 million in total prizes, including two top prizes of $1 million.
Under lottery regulations, retailers will no longer be able to sell Instant Millionaire’s Club tickets after Thursday 13 June 2019 when the game officially closes.
However, players will be able to continue to claim prizes on these tickets after next week in line with the different prize claim deadlines in each state and territory.
“As the prizes are determined at the time of printing we don’t know where the ticket with this million-dollar prize is, but what we do know is that the clock is ticking,” Mr Hart said.
“If someone already has this winning ticket in their hands, they may also have limited time to contact us and collect their prize. In Victoria, players have up to six months after an Instant Scratch-Its game closes to claim their prize, while in South Australia it is 12 months, New South Wales six years and Queensland seven years.”
The Instant Scratch-Its ticket range is available from Instant Scratch-Its outlets in Queensland, New South Wales, the ACT, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and the Northern Territory.
In 2018, 155 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners collectively took home more than $14.26 million.
During this same time, 25,716,051 winners pocketed more than $205.8 million across all Instant Scratch-Its prize tiers.
