The Lott spokesperson Anna Hobdell said up to half of all Australian adults were expected to be lining up outside licensed lottery outlets nationwide and flocking to thelott.com as the countdown to 2024’s biggest draw continued.

“This is the biggest jackpot offered by any Australian lottery game in more than six months, and we anticipate a busy period both in-store and online leading up to the final minutes before the draw closes,” she said.

“We haven’t seen a $100 million Powerball draw since August 2023. On that occasion, the jackpot was shared between a 10-member Sydney syndicate and a Melbourne mum who each scored $50 million.

"The peak of sales was at 6.37pm on the day of the draw when more than 8,627 tickets were sold in a single minute.

“We’re often asked for our advice and our biggest tip to lottery players vying for a chance to win this mammoth prize is to get in early and don’t leave purchasing your entry until the last minute!”

In June 2023, a Bankstown dad's $100 million Powerball windfall was revealed immediately after the draw. Ms Hobdell explained this was only possible because the winner had registered his ticket.

“By registering your ticket to a player card or online account, we can contact you straight after the draw if you win big. So, if you do see your phone light up with an incoming call on Thursday night, answer it immediately!” she urged.

“Could we crown our equal second-biggest lottery winner in Australian history on Thursday night if one player claims the entire $100 million Powerball prize? We can’t wait to find out.”

Tickets into Powerball draw 1443 on Thursday 18 January 2024 can be purchased at any licenced lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via The Lott mobile app.

In 2023, 20 Powerball division one winning entries across Australia pocketed more than $552.15 million in prize money.
