Australians have less than 36 hours to secure a ticket into Thursday’s phenomenal $100 million Powerball draw and be in with the chance to start the new financial year as a newly made multi-millionaire.

Thousands of entries a minute are expected to be generated in lottery outlets and online as players scramble to get a ticket before the draw closes at 7.30pm AEST on Thursday night.

The $100 million prize is the biggest jackpot offered by any Australian lottery game so far this year and is only the sixth time Powerball has offered a $100 million prize in the game’s 27-year history.

The Lott spokesperson Anna Hobdell said half of all Australian adults were expected to grab an entry into the draw, with queues expected outside lottery outlets across the country as the draw close time approached.

“This is the biggest jackpot offered by any Australian lottery game so far in 2023, so we expect it to be busy in-store and online right up until the draw's close,” she said.

“We haven’t seen a $100 million Powerball draw since December 2022 and back then it was shared among three players who each received a life-changing $33.3 million right before the new year.

“On that occasion, the peak of sales was at 5.38pm on the day of the draw when Aussies nabbed more than 5,500 tickets in a single minute.

“Our best advice to lottery players vying for a chance to win this mammoth prize is to get in early and don’t leave purchasing your entry until the last minute!”

Ms Hobdell said players should also register their entries to a player card or online account so they can be contacted immediately after the draw should they score the division one prize.

“We’ll be ready to jump on the phone to reach out to any registered division one winners on Thursday night - so if you do see your phone light up with a call, answer it immediately!” she said.

“In January 2019, we revealed a Sydney mum’s $107 million windfall in Powerball straight after the draw as she registered her ticket to a player card or online account.

“We’re ready to do it all over again and potentially crown our second biggest lottery winner in lottery history if one player takes home the entire $100 million Powerball prize this week!”

Tickets into Powerball draw 1414 on Thursday 22 June 2023 can be purchased at any licenced lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via The Lott mobile app.
