A Benowa couple has confessed they were left spinning in disbelief when they scratched their way to an Instant Scratch-Its top prize worth $100,000.
The Gold Coast locals’ winning $5 Crosswords Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at newsXpress Robina Town Centre, Shop T4276, Ground Floor Market Hall, Robina Town Centre, 19 Robina Town Centre Drive, Robina.
The gleeful duo revealed they’d had a weekly Instant Scratch-Its ritual for the past 20 years, however never imagined they would win anything, let alone $100,000.
“We haven’t stopped smiling!” the winning wife cheered.
“It has honestly been mind-boggling! You never expect a $5 Instant Scratch-Its ticket to deliver a $100,000 prize.
“For the past 20 years, I’ve been buying four Instant Scratch-Its tickets a week to enjoy while I drink my coffee.
“Once I scratched the winning ticket, I think I looked over it about 500 times in sheer disbelief.
“I even sent a photo of it to my son to make sure my eyes weren’t tricking me!
“We’ve been having a few setbacks recently so it kind of feels like the universe has come together for us.
“I’ve been wanting to buy a new car, so this feels like perfect timing.
“I’m still sitting here thinking this can’t be real! I don’t want this moment to end.”
NewsXpress Robina Town Centre shop supervisor Greg Mcdonald said he was overjoyed to discover a regular customer had won an Instant Scratch-Its top prize at his outlet.
“We’ve had many division one entries sold at our outlet but not an Instant Scratch-Its top prize in over five years,” he said.
“Our team will be celebrating and spreading the joy with all our amazing customers.
