A Bentley Park man walked out of the dentist’s chair with more than just a sparkling smile, picking up a jaw-dropping $8 million Oz Lotto winning ticket .
The Far North Queenslander held the only division one winning entry nationally in Oz Lotto draw 1599, drawn Tuesday 8 October 2024 and looks forward to a total prize of $8 million.
The retiree was sitting at the dining table across from his wife enjoying some breakfast when an official from The Lott surprised and delighted him with a multi-million-dollar good fortune.
“Oh my! That’s unbelievable!” he revealed.
“Unbelievable! Thank you very much.
“This will make life so much easier.
“I’ve been playing lotteries since it first started – god knows!
“We were at the dentist and I thought I’d buy an Oz Lotto ticket straight after the appointment.
“Who would’ve known that this ticket would deliver an $8 million win.
“My wife is sitting across from the dining table with a big smile on her face. We were just enjoying some breakfast when you called.
“I don’t know how to feel.”
With $8 million coming his way and the world at his feet, the occasional player admitted he was too overwhelmed to make any immediate plans but was excited about upgrading his car.
“I really am unsure, but I’ll definitely buy a new car!” he shared.
“Don’t you just have the best job in the world?”
His winning 18-game QuickPick was purchased at Market Place News, Shop 2 Centenary Park Place, 96 McLaughlin Road, Bentley Park.
Market Place News owner Sally Tyrie said her team were absolutely thrilled to have sold a multi-million-dollar winning entry to a local man.
“We’re so excited! I think selling the ticket is the next best thing to winning! There will be lots of celebrating and excitement in the shop this week,” she said.
“We will certainly be putting some balloons up and getting ready to sell our next winning ticket. The last time we sold a division one winning entry was in November 2019.
“This is our third division one winning entry that we’ve sold and we’ve owned the outlet for 19 years. These winning moments are why we do what we do!
“Eight million dollars is a life-changing amount and we’re so happy for our winner. We wish them all the best as they have some great times ahead of them. Congratulations!”
The winning numbers in Oz Lotto draw 1599 on Tuesday 8 October 2024 were 30, 46, 44, 14, 45, 42 and 6, while the supplementary numbers were 16, 15 and 21.
Across Australia, there was one division one winning entry in Oz Lotto draw 1599 – one in Queensland.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 354 so far in 2024, including 72 won by Golden Casketcustomers.
In FY24, 16 Oz Lotto division one winning across Australia collectively won more than $323 million.
During this time, Oz Lotto offered a $90 million jackpot – the second biggest in the game’s 30-year history – which was shared by three New South Wales winners.
