A Barmera man’s milestone birthday has been bowled over by a $900,000 division one windfall in the weekend’s Saturday X Lotto draw.
The Riverland resident held one of the six division one winning entries in Saturday X Lotto draw 4289, drawn Saturday 27 August 2022. Each entry took home a division one prize of $933,298.29.
“How fantastic! I can’t believe it!” he cheered when an official from The Lott confirmed his win.
“The ticket is shared between my mate and I – it’s great!
“I was having some tea last night, and I noticed I had a text message alerting me to check my Saturday X Lotto ticket.
“I rang The Lott head office late at night, but it was closed. So, I decided to cross the winning numbers off my entry instead.
“When I realised I’d won division one, I was mind-boggled!
“I’ve been playing for years and years. My wife has always said to me, ‘You won’t win!’.
“It’s all worth it!”
“It’s his birthday today!” his wife joyfully added.
“It’s a great birthday present!
“We’re going to gather our family around this evening and celebrate his birthday and the win!”
When asked how he planned on enjoying his share of the prize, the winning man said it would help him fulfill his dreams of an Australian odyssey.
“We bought a caravan earlier in the year, and it means we can pay it off completely!” he exclaimed.
“We’ll come up with a big travel plan and sightsee around Australia in the caravan.”
The winning man who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his System 8 entry at Barmera Newsagency, 28 Barwell Avenue, Barmera.
Barmera Newsagency manager Trudie Biddle said she couldn’t believe her eyes when she heard her team had sold a division one winning entry.
“I didn’t believe it at first! In all honesty, I thought maybe I was reading it wrong. We’re overjoyed for the winne, and our small community.
“We’ve been celebrating the milestone with balloons and morning tea for all of our staff and customers.
“I’ve been at the newsagency for the last two and a half years, and we’re sold a $10,000 top prize on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket, and while that was exciting, this really takes the cake!
“Congratulations to our winner, and we hope this is the beginning of fulfilling your hopes and dreams. We’d like to also thank all of our special customers – you’re so special to all of us!”
The winning numbers in Saturday X Lotto draw 4289 on 27 August 2022 were 2, 6, 41, 3, 23 and 42, while the supplementary numbers were 39 and 24.
Across Australia, there were six division one winning entries in Saturday X Lotto draw 4289 – three from Western Australia, two from South Australia and one from New South Wales.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 290 so far this calendar year, including 27 won by SA Lotteries customers.
In FY22, Saturday X Lotto created 196 millionaires across Australia.
During this time, there were 324 division one winning in Saturday X Lotto entries across Australia that collectively won more than $461.69 million.
