A young Blackheath man is eager to unlock the front door of his first home after discovering he held the region’s division one winning entry from the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw.
The man’s unregistered entry was one of the eight division one winning entries across Australia in Saturday Lotto draw 3857 on 7 July 2018. Each entry takes home a division one prize of $503,668.42.
As the winning entry was not registered to a Players Club card, NSW Lotteries had no way of contacting the winner to break the life-changing news.
But this morning, while speaking to a NSW Lotteries official to confirm his win, the Blackheath resident recounted the moment he discovered he was a division one winner.
“It’s just excellent!” he declared.
“We heard yesterday there was someone who had won in town so we went and looked up the results.
“It was a nice little surprise!”
The winner explained he had been playing the same numbers for the past 18 years, using a mix of special numbers.
He said he knew exactly how he would use his Saturday Lotto windfall.
“It will be a good deposit for a home – our first home,” he shared.
“While the majority will go to a house, I’m sure we’ll also do something fun as well.”
The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his marked 12-game entry at Blackheath Newsagency, 245 Great Western Highway, Blackheath.
Blackheath Newsagency owner Janette Forsyth said she was thrilled their winner had been united with their prize.
“We’ve been here six years and this is the first division one we’ve sold,” she said.
“It’s been the talk of the town the past few days. It doesn’t take long for word to spread.
“I kept saying it was just a matter of time. It’s weird, I had a strong feeling we’d have a win and now we have!
“We wish the winner all the very best with their prize.”
So far this calendar year, Monday & Wednesday Lotto and Saturday Lotto have created 99 millionaires across Australia.
The six winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 3857 on Saturday 7 July 2018 were 29, 1, 6, 43, 23 and 18. The supplementary numbers were 3 and 35.
Across Australia there were eight division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 3857 – five from Victoria and one each from New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 209 so far this calendar year, including 87 won by NSW Lotteries customers.
Last financial year, there were 290 division one winning NSW Lotteries entries across the Lott’s jurisdictions, which collectively won more than $341.27 million.
