A Bonny Hills couple say they're still trying to comprehend the fact they're suddenly almost $600,000 richer after scoring division one in the weekend's Saturday Lotto draw.
The New South Wales pair held one of the seven division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Lotto draw 3983, drawn Saturday 21 September 2019. Each entry took home a division one prize of $594,970.80.
Sharing their excitement with a NSW Lotteries official this morning, the retirees relived the moment they made the life-changing discovery.
“Thank you! That’s pretty awesome,” the winning woman laughed.
“We discovered we’d won yesterday morning when we checked our ticket on the app.
“We thought we’d won $594 but then quickly saw there was a comma there! We couldn’t quite comprehend it. We thought it had to be wrong.
“It’s very exciting!”
When asked how they planned to enjoy their sudden windfall, the husband and wife thought of their family first.
“We will certainly be sharing it with our family,” they said.
“And we will absolutely be doing some holidaying!
“We can’t wait to travel around the country. This will really add to our retirement.”
The couple, who wish to remain anonymous, purchased their winning entry at Bonny View Store, 923 Ocean Drive, Bonny Hills.
Bonny View Store owner Hari Padmanabha said they were celebrating selling their first division one winning entry.
“It’s great to hear that this prize has gone to a local couple. It’s fantastic news for our local community,” he said.
“I had a feeling we’d be selling a big prize winning entry very soon, so I’m glad it’s happened!
“We hope this brings plenty more customers into our store.
“Congratulations to our winners!”
In the 12 months to 30 June 2019, Monday & Wednesday Lotto and Saturday Lotto created 193 millionaires across Australia.
The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 3983 on Saturday 21 September 2019 were 40, 14, 32, 33, 43 and 29, while the supplementary numbers were 24 and 12.
Across Australia, there were seven division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 3983, two each from Victoria and New South Wales and one each from Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 272 so far this calendar year, including 79 won by NSW Lotteries customers.
In the 12 months to 30 June 2019, there were 244 division one winning Saturday Lotto entries across the Lott’s jurisdictions, which collectively won more than $286.6 million.
