An adventurous Brassall couple are planning to hit the road and see the sights of Australia in a new caravan, thanks to their $200,000 Lucky Lotteries windfall.
The Ipswich retirees snagged the Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot 1st Prize in draw 1548, drawn Monday 25 October 2021 and take home the guaranteed 1st Prize of $200,000.
This is the first Lucky Lotteries winning entry to land in the Ipswich, Lockyer Valley and Somerset region for 2021.
The couple were unaware of their life-enhancing news untill an official from The Lott called the husband moments after the draw.
“I beg your pardon! Two hundred thousand dollars? That’s a beauty!” he yelled.
“This is unbelievable. I’m in shock.
“We were just cleaning the house and imagined today would be like any other ordinary Monday. I guess we’ve been proved wrong!
“We’ve been purchasing entries in both draws for 12 months now. It’s bloody amazing to see a win!
“Both of us are retired, so we hope to put the money towards our retirement fund.
“We also enjoy travelling and have been wanting to purchase a caravan for a while now.
“This has certainly come just in time for Christmas!”
Their winning entry of one random number was purchased at North Ipswich Newsagency, 7 Pine Mountain Road, North Ipswich.
North Ipswich Newsagency team member Jodie Jenkyn said it was the first time the store had sold a winning entry in Lucky Lotteries.
“It’s very exciting! We’re very happy! Happy days,” she said.
“The whole team is feeling elated. We’ve never sold a winning entry in Lucky Lotteries before.
“I get excited even when we sell a smaller winning entry, so $200,000 is amazing!
“Congratulations to our winners. We wish you the very best.”
The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $4.36 million for draw 1549, while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize is now $3.62 million for draw 10499.
In the 12 months to 30 June 2021, 136 Lucky Lotteries 1st Prize and Jackpot winning entries across Australia won more than $46.09 million.
During this time, the biggest Lucky Lotteries prize was won by a Coolangatta man who scored a Mega Jackpot prize of $9.41 million in May 2021.
Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot and Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot are raffle-style games, which means there is a set number of tickets in each draw. As each ticket number is unique there is no sharing of prizes.
Each game has two draws – one that determines the winning numbers and one that determines the jackpot number. If the jackpot number matches one of the winning numbers, then the Jackpot Prize is won. If the jackpot number does not match one of the winning numbers, the Jackpot Prize will climb for the next draw.
Tickets can be purchased at any licenced lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via The Lott mobile app.
