A Burpengary couple can’t wait to kiss their mortgage goodbye using the $100,000 top prize they revealed on their Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
Their winning $5 Crosswords ticket was purchased at TSG Burpengary News, Burpengary Plaza, 177-183 Station Road, Burpengary.
Speaking to an official from The Lott while claiming their prize, the happy wife confessed they initially thought they’d won a smaller prize.
“We like to play Instant Scratch-Its and my husband scratched this one. He thought we’d won $10,000 – which we thought was great,” she laughed.
“Then he was sitting there looking at the ticket and said, ‘do you want me to blow you away?’.
“We counted the number of words we had on the ticket again and realised we’d actually won $100,000!
“We looked at that ticket so many times, but we still didn’t believe it until we came in this morning to claim the prize.
“The biggest win we’ve had was about 15 years ago when we won about $3,000. To think we’ve won $100,000 is unbelievable!
“It will pay off our mortgage for good. It will set us straight and we can breathe easy knowing that’s paid off.”
TSG Burpengary News owner Prakash Balia said he was overjoyed to see another big win land at his outlet.
“You’re kidding me! How good is that?!” he exclaimed.
“Wow! We’ve sold quite a few big prize-winning tickets over the years. Every single win causes major excitement for our staff and customers.
“It’s great to have another win and great to hear it’s a regular customer too. We wish them all the very best with their prize.”
In 2020, there were 177 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across The Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $16 million in top prizes.
