A Burpengary man now truly understands the meaning of the word ‘disbelief’ after scratching a top prize of $1,000 a week for five years on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
The Moreton Bay Region resident purchased his winning $5 Live the Life Japan Instant Scratch-Its ticket at TSG Burpengary News¸ Shop 22 Burpengary Plaza, 177-183 Station Road, Burpengary.
The Queenslander, who recently celebrated his birthday, admitted it was the best birthday surprise he’s ever received.
“I didn’t believe it at first,” he exclaimed.
“I’m still waiting for the winning news to sink in.
“I scratched it around the time of my birthday. It’s definitely unforgettable!
“It’s the most I’ve ever won, so I don’t know how to comprehend it.
“I can’t believe I’ll be receiving $1,000 a week for the next five years.
“How cool.”
With the annuity prize about to start boosting his bank account, the merry man shared it would help him pay off his mortgage.
“I’m going to put it towards house repayments and pay off some bills,” he said.
“I’m still deciding whether I would like to celebrate – I’ll probably keep it on the down low!”
