A Burpengary woman was excited to win what she thought was a $15,000 prize on her $10 Jumbo Crosswords Instant Scratch-Its ticket. Imagine her surprise when she discovered she’d actually won ten times that amount – one of the top prizes of $150,000.
The overjoyed woman bought her winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket at TSG Burpengary News, Shop 22, Burpengary Plaza, Station Road, Burpengary.
When she slid her ticket across the Golden Casket counter this morning, she thought she had won a $15,000 prize.
Moments later, the woman shrieked at the revelation she’d actually won $150,000.
“I didn’t count one of the words,” she exclaimed.
“I bought it last week and then scratched it at home. I said to my husband ‘I’ve scratched 12 words, I’ve won $15,000!’.
“So it’s only just now that I discover it’s ten times that amount. Woohoo!”
Having now realised she had won one of the top prizes, the woman said she was especially thankful she had kept the Instant Scratch-Its ticket in a special hiding place until she could claim her prize.
“I’ve got a special envelope with my Instant Scratch-Its tickets that I keep hidden. Every time I went out during the past few days, I came home and checked this ticket was still there – just to make sure it didn’t go walkabout,” she laughed.
“We were thinking of what we’d do with $15,000, now that we’ve got $150,000 we’ll really have to think about it.
“But for now, it will head into the bank and I can’t wait to see it in there.”
TSG Burpengary News owner Prakash Balia said he was celebrating his outlet selling its fifth major lottery prize during the past three years.
“You’re kidding! One hundred and fifty thousand dollars! That’s lovely – great news,” he exclaimed.
“I’m very happy for our local customer and wish her all the very best with her prize.”
Last financial year, there were 158 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $11.28 million.
The latest range of Instant Scratch-Its tickets are available at Golden Casket outlets.
