A Cairnlea couple’s school drop-off this morning was far from ordinary after they received a phone call from lottery officials revealing their remarkable $20 million division one win in last night’s Oz Lotto draw.

The victorious Victorians held the only division one winning entry nationally in Oz Lotto draw 1516, drawn Tuesday, 7 March 2023 and took home a total prize of $20,000,000.

An official from The Lott reached out to the dynamic duo early this morning who were completely oblivious to having their lives changed forever with the newfound fortune.

“Wow! That’s cool!” the winning man laughed.

“It hasn’t sunk in! It doesn’t feel real.

“I was doing a school drop-off this morning when you initially called. I had no idea we’d won $20 million!

“I put an entry on for Oz Lotto, Powerball and TattsLotto every week. We’re glad we persisted.

“There won’t be much celebrating today because I’m still going to work!  It will be hard to concentrate.”

When asked how they planned to enjoy $20 million, the Melburnians confessed they were too mind-boggled by the morning’s multi-million-dollar revelation to make any immediate plans.

“We can’t comprehend the win yet, so it’s hard to know what we will do!” he shared.

“There’s no doubt that it will go to something great.”

Their winning 25-game QuickPick was purchased at Cairnlea News & Lotto, Shop 15, Cairnlea Shopping Centre, 100 Furlong Road, Cairnlea.

Cairnlea News & Lotto owner Kevin Thai said he couldn’t believe his team had sold a division one winning entry.

“Our entire team is super excited and over-the-moon to have sold a division one winning entry! I was actually asleep when we were notified about the news, and it woke me up instantly,” he said.

“It has been almost two years since we sold a division one winning ticket and we have been waiting patiently for the next winner ever since!

“I believe we’ve had over 10 or more division one winners and a few syndicates since the store opened over 12 years ago.

“It’s such an amazing feeling! This is what we do every day and to have a winner who is taking home such a huge prize, is indescribable.

“A massive congratulations to the division one winner and their family! We couldn’t be happier for them. We hope it goes a long way for them and they can enjoy their prize for years to come.”

The winning numbers in Oz Lotto draw 1516 on Tuesday 7 March 2023 were 28, 31, 47, 26, 33, 44 and 4, while the supplementary numbers were 11, 9 and 20.

Across Australia, there was one division one winning entry in Oz Lotto draw 1516 – one in Victoria.

The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 294 so far this financial year, including 124 won by Tatts customers.

In 2022, 15 division one winning Oz Lotto entries across Australia collectively won more than $275 million.

During this time, the biggest Oz Lotto winner was a mum from Cranbourne in Melbourne who won $50 million in October 2022.

Of the 15 Oz Lotto division one winning entries in 2022, seven landed in New South Wales, four in Victoria, three in Queensland and one in Western Australia.
