Exactly one month after the draw, Geelong’s mystery division one winner has come forward to claim their $613,000 division one prize, prompting officials from the Lott to call off their search.
The elusive winner held one of the seven division one winning entries nationally in TattsLotto draw 4039, drawn Saturday 4 April 2020. Each entry took home a division one prize of $613,016.67.
The ticket was unregistered, so officials from the Lott had no way of contacting the winner to break the news. Instead, they had wait for the ticketholder to come forward and claim their prize.
However, the reason for the delay and how the winner plans to spend their windfall will forever remain a mystery as they have chosen to remain completely anonymous and celebrate in private.
The winning entry was purchased at NewsXpress Armstrong Creek, Shop 3, The Village Warralily Shopping Centre, Armstrong Creek. NewsXpress Armstrong Creek owner Wayne Davis said he was relieved his winner had been united with their prize.
“It’s created a real buzz around the centre for the past month with everyone wondering if they held that winning ticket!” he exclaimed.
“We had a few people asking if we’ve found the winner yet, so I’ll be really happy to tell everyone the prize has been claimed.
“We are so happy for our winner! We hope they enjoy their prize now that they have discovered the win!”
While we might never know how they winner planned to enjoy their prize, the Lott spokesperson Bronwyn Spencer said, there was no doubt it had come at a great time.
“What an excellent time to score a $613,000 prize!” she exclaimed.
“While we don’t know how our winner will enjoy their win, I’m sure this player will be smiling from ear to ear knowing their bank balance is about to balloon by a few extra zeroes.
“Other winners have told us they use their windfalls to retire or cut back their hours at work, buy a new home or do some renovations and plan that long-overdue holiday.
“No matter how they enjoy their prize we are sure it will be a boost for our mystery winner!”
