Hip hip hooray! Campbell mother unwraps $10,000 top prize Instant Scratch-Its win on her birthday

A Campbell mother has unwrapped the most unforgettable birthday surprise from her husband – a $10,000 top prize-winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket.

The top prize winning $1 Mow Money ticket was purchased at Supanews Canberra Centre, Shop Eg11, Canberra Centre, 148 Bunda Street, Canberra.

“On my birthday, my husband gave me a bundle of Instant Scratch-Its tickets in a card, and I scratched them on the day. It was a wonderful birthday surprise!” she told an official from The Lott.

“When I first scratched the top prize, I thought to myself, ‘No! That can’t be right. It’s probably only $1,000!’.

“Sometimes you get all excited too soon, and it ends up being only $1,000. But then I realised it was actually $10,000! I yelled out loud, ‘Oh my gosh! It’s $10,000!’.

“I looked at it three times and said to my husband, ‘I think I’ve just won $10,000!’. He looked at me and said, ‘No way!’. He put his glasses on and did a double-take. It was very special.

“I did tell him, ‘It doesn’t mean you’re off the birthday hook for the next 10 years though!’. He will have to top off next year’s birthday with something bigger! It will have to be better.

“We celebrated the win on my birthday, and my adult children kept asking what I’d do with the money.

“I’ll definitely put it in the bank and save for my retirement. I’m planning to retire in the near future, so this will be a tremendous boost.

“I’m going to spoil myself and see the Moulin Rouge musical. This win has been music to my ears!”
