A Canberra man has had a sleepless night suspecting he’d won a prize in the latest Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw, but it wasn’t until this morning the enormity of his $200,000 bounty was confirmed.

The ACT player won the guaranteed 1st Prize of $200,000 in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1232, drawn Monday 25 February 2019. The man’s entry also won a consolation prize of $1,000, boosting his total win to $201,000.

Confirming his win with a NSW Lotteries official this morning, the man was reduced to stunned silence when he heard the news while hard at work.

“Really?” he eventually managed.

“I can’t believe it! That’s great.

“I’m absolutely amazed. I’m shocked. I can’t believe this!”

The unsuspecting winner revealed he’d been playing Lucky Lotteries for decades and was initially too shocked to think of how he might use his prize.

“I really can’t think straight at the moment but I think I’ll put it away for my retirement,” he said.

“I’ll spend a little bit on renovations around the house and save the rest.”

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning entry of three consecutive numbers at Penney’s Paper Shop, Shop 17, The G, 46-48 Hibberson Street, Gungahlin.

Penney’s Paper Shop owner James Penney said he was thrilled to have sold another 1st Prize winning entry.

“We’ve had our store for 13 years and in those 13 years we’ve sold 12 major prizes,” he said.

“That’s almost one every year so with that type of track record we have to consider ourselves a lucky store.

“We can’t wait for lucky number 13 and we hope that will be a massive win for one of our customers.

“We’re so excited for our latest winning customer and have no doubt they’ll enjoy their prize.”

The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $44.68 million for draw 1233 while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot is now $3.62 million for draw 10274.
