Lottery officials are encouraging Whitsunday residents and visitors to check their Saturday Gold Lotto tickets after a mystery player scored a phenomenal $2.5 million in the weekend’s draw.
The North Queensland winner held one of the eight division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4605 on Saturday 6 September 2025. Each division one winning entry scored $2.5 million.
So far this year, the Mackay and Whitsundays region has seen six major lottery wins, collectively worth more than $19 million.
If the latest winner had been part of The Lott Members Club and registered their ticket to a player card or online account, they would have already been alerted to their good fortune.
Instead, officials from The Lott are still eagerly waiting for the ticketholder to check their ticket and come forward to claim their prize, days after the draw.
The winning entry was purchased at Hickmott’s Supa News, 53 Herbert Street, Bowen.
Hickmott’s Supa News manager Angela Stevens said her and the team were thrilled to have sold a division one winning entry worth $2.5 million.
“We were so excited when we first found out. It’s so nice to have another major lottery win come our way as it’s been a few years since our last one!” she said.
"The winner could be anyone, especially with all the visitors in town for the Don River Dash and Father’s Day. While it would be great if a local won, we’ll be happy for whoever it is.
“Our most recent major wins were a $740,000 Saturday Lotto ticket in 2020 and a $2 million win in 2019.

The Lott spokesperson Anna Hobdell said the elusive winner is most likely walking around with no idea they’ve pocketed a whopping $2.5 million in the weekend’s draw.
“While we’ve been unable to confirm the life-changing news with region’s newest multi-millionaire, we’re sure that when they check their ticket and discover their news, they’ll be jumping for joy,” she said.
“We’re encouraging anybody who purchased a Saturday Gold Lotto ticket from Hickmott’s Supa News to check their ticket as soon as possible.

The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4605 on 6 September 2025 were 43, 6, 21, 10, 42 and 16, while the supplementary numbers were 23 and 36.
Across Australia, there were eight division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4605 – three each in New South Wales and Victoria, and one each in Queensland and Tasmania.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 301 so far in 2025, including 71 won by Golden Casket customers.
In FY25, Saturday Gold Lotto created 165 millionaires across Australia.
During this time, there were 341 division one winning Saturday Gold Lotto entries across Australia that collectively won more than $420 million.
