A sentimental tradition has blossomed into a life-enhancing moment for a woman from Young who discovered her late husband’s lottery tradition led her to a $100,000 win in yesterday's Lucky Lotteries draw.

The South Western Slopes resident held the 1st Prize winning entry in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 10994, drawn Wednesday 4 June 2025 and can look forward to a clean $100,000.

When an official from The Lott called with the winning news, the stunned woman was momentarily speechless, overwhelmed by the unexpected phone call.

“One hundred thousand dollars?! Oh my goodness” she gasped.

“That’s really great news!

“I had no idea this is what you were calling about!

“I’m in shock. I don’t know what to say right now.

“Lucky Lotteries is a game I’ve been playing for decades. It was something my late husband and I used to do together.

“It’s nice to know we’ve achieved a big win after all.

“I can’t wait to share the news with my daughter.”

With a $100,000 prize heading her way, the cheerful winner already had a few plans in mind.

“Well, I’ve already got a few things on my to do list that the prize would help with,” she said.

“There are a few things around the house that need doing.

“I’ve been meaning to book a holiday too.”

Her winning entry of 10 random numbers was purchased at Townhall Newsagency, 188 Boorowa Street, Young.

Townhall Newsagency owner Harshil Patel shared he was thrilled to discover the exciting news that his outlet had sold a 1st Prize winning entry worth $100,000.

“We were all absolutely thrilled to discover the exciting news!” he said.

“It’s funny because when we first opened the outlet this morning, we joked that it was shame we hadn’t sold the winning $70 million Oz Lotto ticket from last night’s draw. Little did we know, some amazing news was just around the corner.

“In the past, we’ve sold a couple division two winning tickets, but never a 1st Prize win. It’s a great milestone for us.

“We’re already spreading the wonderful news with our customer’s and they’re all very excited.

“Congratulations to our special winner and we wish you all the best.”

The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $6.28 million for draw 1704, while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize is now $20.13 million for draw 10995.

In 2024, 147 Lucky Lotteries 1st Prize and Jackpot winning entries across Australia won more than $52.2 million.

Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot and Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot are raffle-style games, which means there is a set number of tickets in each draw. As each ticket number is unique there is no sharing of prizes.

Each game has two draws – one that determines the winning numbers and one that determines the jackpot number. If the jackpot number matches one of the winning numbers, then the Jackpot Prize is won. If the jackpot number does not match one of the winning numbers, the Jackpot Prize will climb for the next draw.

Tickets can be purchased at any licenced lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via The Lott mobile app.

The official home of Australia’s lotteries, The Lott operates and markets Australia’s leading lottery games customers know and love creating everyday winners, winning every day.

In 2024, more than 195.3 million winners took home more than $4.84 billion in prize money from their favourite games at The Lott, including Saturday Lotto, Weekday Windfall, Powerball, Oz Lotto, Set for Life, Lucky Lotteries, Keno (SA), Super 66, Lotto Strike and Instant Scratch-Its.

Last financial year, Australia’s official lotteries contributed more than $1.8 billion via state lottery taxes and donations to help community initiatives, such as hospitals, health research, disaster relief and education.
