A Morningside man has proclaimed a tip-off from a colleague to get a ticket in the weekend’s Saturday Gold Lotto draw led to his $1.25 million windfall.
The elated winner held one of 16 division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4243, drawn Saturday 19 March 2022. Each division one winning entry scored $1.25 million.
Confirming his win with an official from The Lott this morning, the calm and composed man said he couldn’t believe it when he checked the ticket online yesterday and realised he had picked up over $1 million.
“One of my colleagues told me on Saturday that the prize pool was $20 million and I should go and get myself a ticket, but I never expected something like this to happen to me!” he laughed.
“I’m going to have to buy him a beer or two now to say thanks for the tip!
“I thought I may as well, and then I couldn’t believe it when I checked my numbers online on Sunday, and it told me I was a major prize winner.
“This is freaky. I’ve got a lot of emotions running through me at once at the moment, but this is going to set me up for retirement in the next couple of years.
“In all honestly, it really is just a huge weight off my shoulders!
Life will continue as normal in the short-term for the new millionaire though as he plans on continuing to work.
The life-changing 50-game QuickPick was purchased at Foodworks Morningside, Shop 5 629 Wynnum Road, Morningside 4170.
The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4243 on 19 March 2022 were 32, 24, 43, 38, 10 and 34, while the supplementary numbers were 6 and 25.
