Have you ever wondered if your name’s a winner or whether you have a lucky star sign? If your initial starts with the letter J and you’re a Taurus, keep reading!
The Lott has delved into the data and uncovered the first name initials, age groups, and star signs of those who secured the most division one wins across all lottery games in 2025.
In the 12 months ending 31 December 2025, there were 516 division one winning entries across Australia that delivered more than $1.6 billion in division one prize money.
However, it was players with the first initial of J who scored the most division one wins across all lottery games at The Lott with 10.29% (Table 1).
The Annas and Roberts of Australia weren’t far behind, with the initials of A and R each taking home 7.92% of division one wins.
It was less successful year for the Ursulas, Xaviers and Zaras of the world. No one with a name starting with the letters U, X and Z won a division one lottery prize last year. There was also only one division one winner with an initial starting with Q.

The Lott spokesperson Anna Hobdell said only time would tell if 2026’s division one winners matched last year’s profile.
“While we love delving into winners’ data and discovering the trends, regardless of your name or birth date, if you have a ticket in your hands before a draw’s close, you’re in with the chance to win,” she said.
“It seems the stars aligned perfectly for last year's winners, but who knows what fate has in store for Aussie players this year.
“One of the next chances to win big is on Thursday, with Powerball offering the biggest offer of any Australian lottery game so far this year.”
