A generous Bundoora dad is thanking his parents for a $10,000 boost to his daughter’s savings fund after he scratched a top prize on a $1 Instant Scratch-Its ticket they gave him as an early Christmas present.

The winning $1 Christmas Gift Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Kingsbury Cellars Foodworks, 15 Link Street, Kingsbury.

Sharing his excitement with an official from The Lott today, the happy man recounted the moment he discovered his thrilling win.

“My parents popped round to visit the family and me, and when they were here, they gave us a few scratchies as an early Christmas present,” he explained.

“We were just sitting at home when we scratched it, and I wasn’t sure what I was seeing when I saw the three matching numbers.

“I think I checked it about ten thousand times! It looked legit, but we still didn’t believe it.

“I don’t think I’ll believe it until I see it in my bank account.”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his instant windfall, the loving dad confessed he wouldn’t spend a cent of it on himself.

“I’ve got a six-year-old daughter, so I’m going to put it in a special account just for her,” he explained.

“It can sit there and gather interest, and she will be able to get it when she turns 18.

“Hopefully she will use it towards buying her first car or a house deposit.”

Kingsbury Cellars Foodworks owner Lucy Zhung said she was excited to discover her outlet had sold a top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket.

“Wow! That’s awesome! How great for our customer!” she exclaimed.

“Congratulations to them! We wish them all the best!”

Between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020, there were 151 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across The Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $11.8 million in top prizes.

During this same time, Instant Scratch-Its players enjoyed more than 29.1 million wins across all prize tiers worth more than $235.25 million. This equates to more than half a million dollars won on Instant Scratch-Its every day.
