A Mitcham couple are ready to ‘indulge and enjoy life a little bit more’ after discovering they won a $50,000 Keno Spot 8 prize in draw 2486305, drawn today, Thursday 18 April 2019.
Speaking to an SA Lotteries official this afternoon to claim their prize, the emotional couple shared their win had come at the perfect time.
“You’re kidding me?” the wife questioned.
“No, you are joking! Who are you?
“Please tell me you are not joking!
“You have no idea how much this means to me! This means the world to me.
“We have been going through some hard times. This will help us so much.
“I am with my husband. You’ll have to talk to him because I can’t talk right now. I can’t stop crying!”
“She’s very emotional right now,” the happy husband added.
“As you can probably tell, we are very, very pleased.
“God $50,000 – that’s a nice amount!”
When asked how they planned to use their prize, the elated retirees admitted they had a few ideas of how to spend it.
“We will celebrate this afternoon and have prawns for dinner. They’re our favourite,” the South Australian man said.
“We will spend the prize on our grandkids. Then we will indulge a bit ourselves and enjoy life a little bit more.
“I will buy some new pants and new shoes. I am sure my wife will find something really nice to buy herself too.”
The retired couple, who wish to remain anonymous, purchased their winning Keno Spot 8 entry at Mitcham Square Newsagency, Shop 39 / 119 Belair Road, Torrens Park.
Mitcham Square Newsagency employee Claudia Draper said the outlet was thrilled to have made one of their customers $50,000 richer.
“It’s very exciting especially because it’s a regular customer,” she said.
“We are really close with our customers and value our relationships with them, so it’s always very exciting seeing them win.
“We are so happy for this couple and hope they enjoy their prize.
“Hopefully this is the start of a winning streak and we sell some more big prizes soon!”
In the 12 months to 30 June 2018, there were 26 Keno Spot 8, 9 and 10 winners across South Australia who landed more than $5.026 million. Spot 10 was won twice during this time – a prize of more than $1.474 million won in Mawson Lakes in April 2018, and a prize of more than $1.7 million won in Mansfield Park in October 2018.
Keno is a game whereby 20 numbers are randomly generated from a possible 80. To win a Keno Spot 8 prize, a player must match all eight of the numbers selected on their ticket against the 20 numbers drawn.
