A Stafford man’s spontaneous stop for a finger bun on his way home from work unexpectedly led him to a sweet $100,000 Instant Scratch-Its win.
The north Brisbane resident’s winning $5 Crosswords Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Homezone Newsagency, Shop 104, Homezone, 142 Newmarket Road, Windsor.
When an official from The Lott confirmed his newfound treasure, the stunned winner shared he was still in disbelief days after scratching the winning ticket.
“It really hasn’t sunk in!” the winning man cheered.
“It all came about so suddenly.
“I was on my way home from work the other day, and I decided to stop in and grab a finger bun on my way.
“Next door to the bakery was a newsagent, and something on the spur of the moment told me to buy a couple of tickets.
“I wasn’t planning on buying any tickets, and the next thing I knew, I scratched a win worth $100,000.
“I don’t think it’ll feel real until I see the money in my bank account.
“It still feels too big to make any decisions just yet.
“The prize will come in handy, believe me!”
Homezone Newsagency owner Doug Belyea shared he was over the moon to hear a local customer had scored a top prize win worth $100,000.
“My first feelings were elation and happiness for our winner! It’s always great to hear one of our customers score a major win,” he said.
“We have sold several division two winning tickets as of late, so it’s super exciting to finally crack a top prize.
“All the team at Homezone Newsagency send our congratulations to the winner! We hope they enjoy the win and we’re so happy for them.”
