While some lottery winners pop a bottle of champagne, a Richmond woman opted for a warm cup of tea after discovering she’d scored a $1.5 million Saturday Lotto win.
The northwest Sydney resident held one of the four division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Lotto draw 4667, drawn Saturday 11 April 2026. She pocketed a total prize of $1,546,663.14.
When an official from The Lott confirmed the life‑changing news, the generous winner immediately thought of helping her loved ones and spreading the joy.
“Oh my god. You can’t be serious,” she said.
“I’m not believing you right now. Are you really from The Lott?
“I don’t answer strange calls, so when you called me this morning, I ignored it. Then I accidentally called you back just now. I didn’t even mean to.
“You’ve left me completely speechless. You’re amazing.
“I can help my children. I’ll get them set up and I have a friend I’d love to help as well. I can share the joy around.
“I’d also love to go a holiday. I can book a cruise!
“I’m looking at my ticket right now and just thinking ‘What!’.
“I’ve played for years. So long that I can’t even remember how long I’ve been playing for.
“I think it’s time for a cup of tea. I need to sit down and let this all sink in!”
Her winning 18-game QuickPick was purchased from O’Briens Newsagency, Shop 4, 253 Windsor Street, Richmond.
O’Briens Newsagency owner Thuy Tran said the team was over the moon to sell a division one winning ticket.
“We are so excited each time we sell a winning ticket. It never gets old. And we are grateful to have sold several winning entries over the years,” she said.
“This is our second Saturday Lotto division one win within 19 months. Then we had a Wednesday Lotto win in February 2023 and two other Saturday Lotto wins over a decade ago.
“Congratulations to the winner. I hope you get to enjoy that winning moment and have a fabulous time spending your prize.”
