A Whyalla woman has admitted it wasn’t until she claimed her Instant Scratch-Its prize that she found out she’d won an exhilarating $100,000 instead of $10,000.
The $5 Mystery Crosswords ticket was purchased at George Avenue Deli, 77 George Avenue, Whyalla Norrie.
“I’m in a state of shock!” the winning woman laughed when speaking with an official from The Lott this morning.
“I can’t believe I won $100,000?! I didn’t think I’d won that much when I initially scratched the ticket!
“I thought I’d won $10,000, and I even went back to George Avenue Deli to double-check with them.
“The lovely outlet owner thought I’d won $10,000 as well as it’s easy to miss a letter on the Crosswords ticket.
“It wasn’t until a week later when I went to The Lott’s head office in Marleston to claim my winnings that they told me I’d won $100,000!
“I’m going to treat myself to a nice dinner and some wine to celebrate!
“It’s amazing.”
When asked how she planned to enjoy her instant windfall, the South Australian shared it would boost her Christmas plans and help upgrade her car.
“It’s going to be an awesome Christmas, and the win has come at the most perfect time,” she said.
“I can’t wait to buy a new car. I don’t know which type yet, but it’s going to be a nice upgrade!”
George Avenue Deli owner Lorna-Jane Anderson said she was ecstatic to sell her first top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket since owning the store for six years.
“It’s very exciting! We couldn’t be happier seeing the prize go to a regular and local customer who continues to support us each week,” she said.
“We haven’t sold a top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket before, so we’re over the moon to make this one our first of many more!
“Congratulations to the winning woman and we wish you all the best with your prize. Thank you for supporting us.”
In FY22, there were 139 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across The Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $14.51 million in top prizes.
