A Burwood man has gone from counting sheep to counting zeros after a late-night check of his Oz Lotto ticket revealed he had bagged $7.5 million in last night’s draw.
The Sydneysider held one of the two division one winning entries nationally in Oz Lotto draw 1648 on Tuesday 16 September 2025. Each entry scored a whopping $7.5 million.
When an official from The Lott called to confirm his win this morning, the stunned man was still in disbelief and struggling to grasp the enormity of his prize.
“Is it really true?” he questioned.
“Thank you. We’re kind of speechless at the moment.
“We’ve been juggling our thoughts all night. We’ve been so nervous that it’s just an error.
“I can’t say we’ve slept much. I just kept refreshing The Lott app and tossing and turning.
“Even now, my wife is still convinced it’s fake.
“I play every now and then, usually when it’s a big one. This time, I was just sitting on the couch and picked a random entry.
“It’s life-changing. It’ll set us up completely.
“I’m still sceptical but when it hits the bank account and reality sets in a bit more, we’ll have a good think about what we want to do.
“I think we might see a financial advisor to help us.”
His winning 18-game QuickPick was purchased via The Lott app – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
The winning numbers in Oz Lotto draw 1648 on Tuesday 16 September 2025 were 20, 35, 41, 3, 42, 37 and 7, while the supplementary numbers were 33, 30 and 18.
Across Australia, there were two division one winning entries in Oz Lotto draw 1648 – one each in New South Wales and Western Australia.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 308 so far in 2025, including 84 won by NSW Lotteries customers.
In FY25, 12 Oz Lotto division one winning across Australia collectively won more than $414 million.
During this time, the biggest Oz Lotto prize was a $100 million jackpot pocketed by an Elizabeth Hills woman in February 2025.
Of the 12 Oz Lotto division one winning entries in FY25, four landed in New South Wales, three each in Queensland Victoria, and two in South Australia.
