A North Plympton couple was rendered speechless this morning after the $1 million Keno win they initially dismissed as a joke turned out to be true.
The Adelaide residents scored the Keno Spot 10 jackpot in draw 250509 305, drawn Friday 9 May 2025, and can look forward to $1,047,400.30.
Amazingly, the win occurred just over a week after a pair of Salisbury grandparents claimed the largest Keno jackpot in South Australia over 20 years, taking home a life-changing $3.62 million prize.
“Golly! That’s got me fairly shocked,” the winning husband said.
“Thank you very much. I’m quite speechless.
“I really thought this was a joke. It’s a shock to my system, that’s for sure.
“We’ve never won something like this. I can’t believe it.”
When asked how they planned to use their million-dollar fortune, the winning couple confessed they were too shocked to make any immediate decisions.
“I don’t know what we’ll do!” he said.
“We’ll do some good, I know that. It’s always great to help others.
“Once it’s sunk in, we’ll feel a bit clearer-headed and decide what to do.”
The duo’s winning entry was purchased at Kylie Brown's Newsagency, Shop 17, Bayside Village Shopping Centre, Cnr Jetty & Brighton Road, Glenelg.
Kylie Brown's Newsagency owner Kylie Brown said she was thrilled to hear her outlet had sold a major Keno prize.
“We’re super excited and happy for our customer!” she said.
“We’ve been sharing the great news with everyone, and there’s lots of buzz in the store.
“This is our first ever major prize-winning Keno ticket we’ve sold, but we’ve had other division wins, including a $2.5 million Saturday X Lotto ticket, which we sold in February.
“A big congratulations to the winning customer, and we wish you all the best with your prize.”
In 2024, there were more than 5.6 million Keno wins across South Australia worth more than $130 million. This included 40 Keno Spot 8, 9 and 10 winners across South Australia who scored more than $6.49 million.
The Spot 10 prize was won three times during this period, including a $2.26 million prize won by a Paralowie woman keen to use her good fortune to help others and causes close to her heart.
Keno is a game whereby 20 numbers are randomly generated from a possible 80. To win a Keno Spot 10 prize, a player must match all 10 of the numbers selected on their ticket against the 20 numbers drawn.
