A hardworking small business owner from Hallett Cove is looking forward to cutting back at work after becoming an overnight millionaire from winning division one in Monday & Wednesday X Lotto.
The Adelaide man held the only division one winning entry nationally in Monday & Wednesday X Lotto draw 3874, drawn Monday 6 June 2019. He takes home the guaranteed division one prize of $1 million.
Sharing his joy with a SA Lotteries official this morning to confirm his win, the winner recounted how his new millionaire status came to be.
“Things like this never happen to people like me so I’m pretty stoked!” he laughed.
“I don’t play Monday X Lotto very often as I usually only play Powerball on Thursdays and Saturday X Lotto, but I was near my local store and I thought I’d stop and buy a ticket.
“I was heading home and normally I don’t stop but I must have had a bit of a feeling so I am glad I did stop!”
When asked how he planned to enjoy his new millionaire status, the happy winner revealed he was looking forward to reducing his work hours and spending more time with his family.
“I’ve been working hard all my life, averaging about 60 to 70 hours a week so I’m looking to slow down a bit which will be wonderful,” he revealed.
“I’ll be heading over to the United Kingdom to visit my family there and I’ll be able to spend more time with my family here.
“You can’t believe how much this has changed my life.”
The over-the-moon winner confessed he had spent the night celebrating after discovering the life-changing news.
“I got home from work and logged onto the Lott app to check my numbers,” he explained.
“I couldn’t believe it. I thought it was wrong. I just couldn’t believe it!
“I spent the night celebrating and was a little bit hungover on Tuesday as I didn’t sleep that well after I discovered the news!”
The winning entry was purchased at Campbell’s Newsagency Hallett Cove, Shop 2 & 3, Hallett Cove Shopping Centre, 246 Lonsdale Road, Hallett Cove.
