From never mowing the lawn again to learning to play the guitar, receiving your big lottery win in monthly instalments opens up a whole new world of winning, Set for Life First Prize winners have revealed.

With Set for Life, First Prize winners receive $20,000 a month for 20 years – with each instalment paid on the 15th of every month.

Since the game launched in August 2015, there has been 46 Set for Life First Prize winners across Australia. Collectively, they will take home more than $220 million over two decades.

Today, 15 March 2019, Set for Life will have paid the 46 national First Prize winners over $20 million in monthly prize payments.

To understand what it’s like to win ‘$20K on Replay’, the Lott, Australia’s official lotteries, has revealed 15 ways Set for Life winners are enjoying their First Prizes.

Set for Life spokesperson Matt Hart said while every First Prize winner was unique, all admitted they counted down to the 15th of the month – the day they’re paid their Set for Life monthly instalment.

“Set for Life First Prize winners love receiving their windfall in large monthly lumps as it means they can happily plan lots of exciting activities and milestones knowing they’ll get $20,000 each month for the next 20 years,” he said.

“While many winners spend their prize on holidays all over the world and new homes, there are also lots of surprising ways they use their win – from never ironing clothes or mowing the lawn again, through to starting a small business and pursuing a long-held passion, like learning to play a musical instrument.

“During the past three and a half years, Set for Life First Prize winners across Australia have collectively received more than $20.56 million in monthly payments. We can’t wait to crown our next lot of First Prize winners.”

With the Set for Life prize paid on the 15th of each month, here are the top 15 ways First Prize winners use their ‘$20k on Replay’.

  • Some of the most popular destinations include Port Douglas and the Gold Coast in Australia, along with Europe and Hawaii.

“It’s a complete change of lifestyle for us! I was ironing when you phoned, and I hate to iron you see, and I thought ‘who could this be calling?’… Now I’ll be able to get an ironing lady! I don’t mind doing the cleaning but I hate ironing – so that’s it, I’m done!” – QLD winner

8Upgrading household items, including buying a reclining lounge chair.
