A Beenleigh woman couldn’t believe her eyes when she scratched a $150,000 top prize win on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket, admitting she almost spilt her cup of tea over in the heat of the moment.

The Queenslander purchased her top prize winning $10 Jumbo Crosswords Instant Scratch-Its ticket at Beenleigh Marketplace Newsextra, Shop 29A, Beenleigh Market Place, Beenleigh.

The winning woman was still reeling from the instant win while on the phone to lottery officials despite claiming the prize at The Lott headquarters days prior.

“I thought it was a joke at first,” she laughed.

“It’s so exciting. I was at the local newsagency at Beenleigh Marketplace, and I thought I’d buy a couple of the Crossword scratchies because they’re my favourite.

“I just enjoy scratching them and I never expect to win anything big.

“I had sat down to enjoy a cuppa and my scratchies.

“Lo and behold, $150,000 came up. I seriously thought someone was playing a trick on me and I nearly spilt my tea.

“I went straight back to the newsagency and the team member told me I’d have to claim it at The Lott head office. That’s when I knew it was real.

“I’m just letting it sink in. No celebrations as of yet!

“I’d love to fix my car. It has a few mechanical faults.

“But for now, I’ll sit on the win and process it all.”

Beenleigh Marketplace Newsextra team member Anita Gill said she was thrilled when she first found out Beenleigh Marketplace had sold a top prize-winning entry.

“What an exciting milestone. It’s our first major win since the new owners took over the outlet!” she said.

“We’ve started to put up posters all over the shop to alert customers that we’ve sold a top prize Instant Scratch-Its ticket. Our regular customers have already told us they’re super excited for us.

“A lot of customers have been wishing it was them that took home the top prize but who knows, they might be next!

“We can’t wait to do it all again soon!”
