A Cheltenham couple couldn’t help but erupt in screams of excitement this morning after discovering their last-minute entry into last night’s Weekday Windfall draw landed them a $1 million win.
The south-east Melbourne residents held the only division one winning entry nationally in Weekday Windfall draw 4531, drawn Wednesday 9 April 2025 and pocketed $1 million.
“Woo! Thank you! That’s my wife screaming in the background,” the dotting husband laughed when an official from The Lott called with the winning news.
“I can’t believe it. This means the absolute world to our family. We feel so fortunate and lucky.
“It’s actually a pretty funny story how I ended up with the ticket. I don’t usually play lotteries unless there’s a big jackpot floating around.
“I was trying to grab a ticket into the $50 million Oz Lotto draw but just missed out because I was too slow!
“Then I thought I’d grab a ticket for the next Oz Lotto draw, but it wasn’t for another week. So, I thought, ‘Oh well, I’ll just grab a Weekday Windfall ticket instead.’.
“And then I completely forgot I even had it! How awesome is that? It’s truly life-changing.”
With a million-dollar boost heading their way this Easter, the grateful couple said their focus was firmly on family.
“Our young kids are our priority,” the thrilled husband shared.
“We’ll be able to wipe out the mortgage and give them a great head start.
“We’ve also got relatives overseas we’ve been wanting the kids to meet, but it’s just never been possible, until now!
“Thank you so much. We’re so grateful.”
The duo’s winning 3 x System 7 marked entry was purchased on The Lott website – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
The winning numbers in Weekday Windfall draw 4531 on Wednesday 9 April 2025 were 36, 30, 35, 15, 29 and 27, while the supplementary numbers were 4 and 38.
Across Australia, there was one division one winning entry in Weekday Windfall draw 4531 – the entry from Victoria.
