A generous Essendon woman has declared she is “eternally grateful” for her division one win in the weekend’s TattsLotto draw because it will help not only her own family but also those less fortunate than herself.
The happy winner held one of the 14 division one winning entries nationally in TattsLotto draw 4127, drawn Saturday 6 February 2021. Each winning entry takes home a division one prize of $428,018.10.
Sharing her excitement with an official from The Lott today, the thrilled winner recounted the moment she discovered her life-changing win.
“I think it’s slowly starting to sink in that I’ve won!” she exclaimed.
“It wasn’t until I checked my ticket at the newsagent earlier that I really thought it could be true. They are just the loveliest people, and they were so happy for me!
“I heard the numbers on the news on the radio on Sunday morning, and I thought to myself, ‘I think I have a few of those’.
“I didn’t want to get too excited too soon so I went and bought the paper so I could double-check them.
“I didn’t want to get ahead of myself, so I made myself read the whole thing front to back before I checked my numbers.
“When I was ready to check them, I started circling the numbers on my ticket. I got to the last one and saw that I had six circles! I had six numbers! I just closed my eyes for a moment and then looked again.
“I couldn’t believe it! It was just wonderful! I’m just so grateful. Eternally grateful.
“I marked my entry using my grandchildren’s birth dates! I can’t wait to help them with this win!”
When asked how she planned to enjoy her prize, the generous and humble woman confessed she was eager to share her good fortune with those around her.
“There is a lot of people I can help with this win!” she declared.
“I retired a few years ago now, and I volunteer four days a week helping those who are less fortunate.
“I’m going to continue to help them with my volunteer work, but now I can give a bit extra to those who really need my help.
“I am also going to make sure that my grandchildren’s school fees are paid so that my children don’t have to worry about that as well as their mortgages.
“When I calm down and get back to normal I’m going to make a bit of a list of who I can help and what I am going to do with it. I don’t want to waste any of it! I want to be able to help as many people as possible!”
The winner also professed she was going to treat herself to a long-overdue holiday with her windfall.
“There are people who need the money more than me, but my daughter is always telling me I need to look after myself too,” she confessed.
“I’ve always dreamt of going on The Ghan!
“It’s always been a bit too expensive for me, but it just looks beautiful.
“I’ve got some wonderful girlfriends I want to take with me so when we can travel again, I’m going to take them on holiday!”
The happy winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her winning 8-game marked entry at Grantham LPO Tatts & News, 34 Grantham Street, Brunswick West.
Grantham LPO Tatts & News owner Hiep Pham said he was so excited to discover his outlet had sold a division one winning entry he couldn’t sleep.
“There is a double celebration for us this week with this win and Lunar New Year this weekend!” he exclaimed.

“This is the second time we’ve sold a division one winning entry. The last was in 2015.
