A loving father from Tuggeranong is planning to help pay for his daughter’s university fees after winning one of the top prizes of $100,000 on a $5 Crosswords Instant Scratch-Its ticket.

The winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased from Chisholm Newsagency & Post Office, Shop 6, 5 Halley Street, Chisholm.

Speaking to a NSW Lotteries official this morning to confirm his prize, the happy man recounted the moment he discovered he was an instant winner.

“I was just scratching away at the ticket and the words kept popping up and I thought ‘this has got to be good’,” he said happily.

“I didn’t believe I had won. I kept going over it and over it and just thought ‘it’s ten words, no, nine words, no it’s definitely ten words!’

“I knew it was either $10,000 or $100,000 which is a huge difference! So I kept checking it again and again, because I just wasn’t sure!

“Once it was confirmed, well that was incredible! It was so exciting telling my family too.

“I normally play Instant Scratch-Its every week, but I don’t know if I will play as much anymore. I don’t want to be greedy, I have had my win and now it’s someone else’s turn.

“My favourite to play is the crosswords, they are an entertaining fun game.”

The Tuggeranong resident admitted he already has some plans for his instant windfall, which includes helping his daughter with university fees.

“It is going to make things a lot easier for us,” he shared.

“We will put most of it towards my daughter’s university fees. Going to university is so expensive, so I’d rather just pay it all off for her so she has a head start.

“The rest we will put in the bank until we decide what to do with it.”

Chisholm Newsagency & Post Office owner Zhiqi Lin said it was great to sell a top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket.

“It is very exciting to have sold that winning ticket. It’s such a great feeling,” he said.

“I am so glad we have made one of our customers $100,000 richer!

“I hope that I sell some more winning tickets to our customers.”

Last financial year, there were 158 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $11.28 million.

The latest range of Instant Scratch-Its tickets are available now at NSW Lotteries outlets. It can happen in an instant. It could happen to you.
