A Wanniassa couple are set to spread the love by giving back to charities close to their hearts and sharing with family after their weekend tradition delivered them a $1.25 million Saturday Lotto win.
The Canberra residents held one of the four division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 4567, drawn Saturday, 26 April 2025. Each division one winning entry pocketed $1,259,119.90.
When an official from The Lott called to confirm their newfound fortune, the couple couldn’t stop giggling with joy.
“Finally, we can relax now!” the winning husband laughed.
“It’s a very surreal feeling. We’ve been on a rollercoaster of emotions to say the least!”
“We have a number of charities we donate to throughout the year, mainly children’s charities or school-based charities like The Starlight Foundation and The Smith Family, but with this, we’ll be able to give much more!” the gleeful wife added.
“Our family will also benefit so much. We want to take our children and grandchildren on a big family holiday.
“We’ll also put some away for our grandchildren’s uni fees when the time comes around.
“Most importantly, we’ll be seeing a financial advisor. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity so we won’t be wasting it.
“I always check our numbers on Sunday morning and do a crossword. When I saw all our numbers come up on game one, line one, I thought ‘this can’t be right.’.
“I called out to my husband to double check and sure enough, he was seeing the same thing as me.
“I even checked my bank account because I was scared I’d only picked the numbers and forgotten to actually buy the ticket!
“I'm usually a glass-half-full person, but with something this big, I couldn’t help thinking it might be my Murphy’s Law moment.
“I’m so glad now it’s confirmed, we can get excited and let the win sink in!
“I always get a QuickPick but strangely enough, there were some special numbers in the line that won.
“We can’t thank you enough!
The winning 36-game QuickPick entry was purchased on The Lott website – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 4567 on 28 April 2025 were 38, 42, 32, 1, 21 and 7, while the supplementary numbers were 24 and 13.
Across Australia, there were four division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 4567 – two each in Queensland and New South Wales.
