A Fig Tree Pocket man was about to start his workday but is now figuring out how to park a brand-new Range Rover in his driveway after his ticket in support of Rural Aid scored him a Play For Purpose prize pack worth $250,000.
The young man in his 20s scored the $250,000 First Prize Pack in Play For Purpose Raffle 26, drawn Friday, 21st March 2025, which included a Range Rover Velar valued at $163,908 and $86,092 of cashable gold bullion.
The Brisbane resident purchased his winning ticket in support of Rural Aid, revealing the charity was one close to his heart.
“Seriously? Oh my god. Thank you so much!” he cheered when an official from Play For Purpose reached out with the thrilling news straight after the draw.
“That’s incredible! I can’t believe it.
“I’m just getting my mum and dad in here to tell them I won the car!
“I’m only in my 20s so you have no idea how much this means to me. It’s a huge amount of money.
“This is my first time buying a ticket in Play For Purpose. This is crazy.
“I’ll be able to use the cashable gold bullion to save and set myself up.
“I supported Rural Aid because of my family connection. They grew up in the outback.
“I was actually about to go to work. I’m not sure how I’ll be able to focus now!”
The gleeful man purchased two tickets in support of Rural Aid at playforpurpose.com.au.
Rural Aid Chief Executive Officer John Warlters said he was thrilled to hear a Rural Aid Supporter with a connection to the outback was the major prize winner.
“Just like our winner, the Rural Aid team let out a cheer on learning that a supporter of ours was the major prize winner,” he said.
“It’s a wonderful story of a young person with a connection to the bush wanting to make a difference through Rural Aid and the opportunity that Play For Purpose represents. He’s now the lucky winner of a $250,000 prize package.
“Rural Aid supporters are consistently one of the strongest supporters of Play For Purpose. It is especially exciting to know that the major winner is someone who has a soft spot for the bush.”
Other major prize winners were from across Australia, including Tapping in Western Australia, Traralgon in Victoria, Armidale in New South Wales and Rockingham in Western Australia who won second, third, fourth and fifth prize packages in support of WA Wildlife, Childhood Cancer Association and Kindly Animal Sanctuary.
