A Gold Coast couple have finally learnt of their $201,000 Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot windfall, more than two weeks after the draw.
Golden Casket officials had been waiting for the winners to claim their prize after their unregistered entry won the guaranteed 1st prize of $200,000 in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1163, drawn Friday 23 November 2018. The couple also won a consolation prize of $1,000, ramping up their total win to $201,000.
Confirming the windfall with a Golden Casket official today, the woman revealed she bought the ticket for her husband’s birthday and it had been sitting in her handbag for weeks before she thought to check it.
“I’ve had this ticket in my handbag, carrying it around with an Instant Scratch-Its ticket that we won $5 on, I went to cash the scratchie in knowing we had a little win,” she explained.
“I had no idea how this Mega Jackpot worked and when the lady put the ticket through the machine for me, she told me she couldn’t pay out the prize.”
It wasn’t until she contacted a Golden Casket official that they realised they’d won $201,000.
“I’m shaking,” she revealed.
“I can’t believe it, I just cannot believe it.
“This is just unbelievable, it really is.
“We had never played Lucky Lotteries before but we thought we’d give it a go.
“This is just amazing!”
The couple revealed they’ll use the windfall to take their family to America in the new year to celebrate.
“It will be so special to have a family holiday,” she said.
“We cannot wait!”
The 1st prize winning ticket was purchased at Waterford Plaza News, Shop 21, Waterford Plaza Shopping Centre, Corner of Kingston Road and Tygum Road, Waterford.
Waterford Plaza News owner Edmund Lee said the outlet was happy that the winner had finally checked their ticket.
“We’re very glad that they have finally scanned their ticket and realised they’ve won,” he said.
“This is great news just before Christmas!”
The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $30.76 million for draw 1175 while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot is now $1.93 million for draw 10261.
