A Gosford man is looking forward to a white Christmas and New Years Eve in Japan after discovering he won more than $200,000 in a recent Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw.
The New South Wales player won the guaranteed 1st Prize of $200,000 in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1458, drawn Thursday 14 November 2019.
In addition to winning the 1st Prize, he also won a consolation prize of $1,000 boosting his total win to $201,000.
Speaking with a NSW Lotteries official this morning, the winner admitted he’s spent weeks oblivious to his prize.
“Are you sure?” he questioned.
“That is sensational! Gosh that is awesome!
“I had no idea I had won. I didn’t even know my local outlet had sold a major prize until I went into the store today.
“Then when I scanned my ticket, they told me I won, that the winner was me, but I couldn’t believe it.
“I said to the owner, ‘no it can’t be’, but he just looked at me and said, ‘I’m certain it is’. As you can imagine I was gobsmacked!
“This is just amazing news!”
When asked how he planned to enjoy his windfall, the stoked bloke said he had a few ideas.
“Christmas has come early this year!” he laughed,
“I am going to pay off my mortgage and then I want to go skiing in Japan. Maybe I’ll have a white Christmas over there, or go in the new year.
“I will celebrate with my family. I received a really nice bottle of vodka a little while back and I have been saving it for a special occasion, so I think I will have a glass tonight.”
The NSW Lotteries player purchased his winning entry at SPAR Niagara Park, Niagara Park Shopping Centre, Shop 15, 16 Washington Avenue, Niagara Pak.
SPAR Niagara Park owner Wei Yuan said he was thrilled to have sold a 1st prize winning entry.
“We are very excited,” she said.
“We broke the news to him today and he was so shocked. He couldn’t believe it. He was so happy!
“We are thrilled for him and wish him all the best with his prize.
“We have sold some major prizes in the past, but we’ve been waiting to sell another.
“Hopefully we sell more of those big prizes soon because it’s great for our winners, the community and our store.
“We certainly feel lucky now!”
The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $8.13 million draw 1461 while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot is now $630,000 for draw 10336.
