A new four-wheel drive will fuel plenty of excitement for a Grafton retiree, who plans to use his recent $100,000 Instant Scratch-Its win to buy a brand-new car for the first time in his life.
The top prize winning $5 ticket was purchased at Grafton Shoppingworld News, Shop 59 Shoppingworld, 42 Duke Street, Grafton.
Sharing his joy with an official from The Lott this morning, the winning man explained he was still in a state of disbelief.
“I’m still getting over the shock!” he laughed.
“My wife decided to buy a few tickets, ones we’ve never played before.
“A couple of days later we decided to scratch them.
“When I scratched the ticket my mouth just about fell open.
“I couldn’t believe it! It was such an exciting win.”
With $100,000 on the way, the man explained his retirement plans were about to get a whole lot more exciting.
“I am going to buy a new four-wheel drive,” he declared.
“I’ve never owned a new car in all my life. I can’t wait!”
Grafton Shoppingworld News owner Rose Driver said she was thrilled for their latest winner.
“This man was just so happy when he came in and check his ticket,” she explained.
“We were so glad to be part of the journey.
“Congratulations to him, we hope he really enjoys it!”
In FY21, there were 176 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across The Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $14.17 million in top prizes.
During this same time, Instant Scratch-Its players enjoyed more than 31.2 million wins across all prize tiers worth more than $274.31 million. This equates to more than $750,000 won on Instant Scratch-Its every day.
